Central PA Directory of Craft-Related Non-Profit Guilds, Chapters, Clubs and Associations

The Directory will include Central PA guilds engaged in various handcrafts, e.g. basketry, beading, crochet, dollmaking, embroidery, fiber art, knitting, lace, quilting, sculpting, sewing, smocking, spinning, weaving, and woodworking, etc.

The goal of this directory is to enable networking by broadening the ability of individuals to connect with guilds, the ability of guilds to network with each other, and to promote guild interaction with public institutions. These networking relationships are necessary to provide more effective community outreach and promote education in the handcraft traditions.

It is anticipated that a directory of this nature, generated in print form, will inform the public of the diverse guilds in the area; encourage guild membership; facilitate contact between guilds to create networking opportunities; promote guild partnerships in sponsoring special events, conference, and/or joint projects; increase outreach venues for youth and adult education; and serve as a resource tool for museums, schools, senior citizen groups, etc. in locating skilled craftspersons, teachers, and speakers in the traditional arts and ethnic traditions.

Guilds: Please forward contact information to receive the Application Form to be completed for inclusion in the Directory. A nominal fee will be required to support this project.

Businesses: If you are interested in advertising in this Directory, please request an Advertisers’ Packet.

Individuals may request a copy of the directory for a nominal fee.

FREE copies may be requested by libraries, school, museums, and other appropriate organizations.

Projected Publication Date: TBA

This project has been made possible through a grant from the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA), a local decision-making program of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA). The PCA is a state agency in the Governor’s Office, created by the Legislature in 1966 to encourage and promote the arts. Funding comes from the citizens of Pennsylvania through an annual state appropriation by the Legislature, and from a federal grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. PPA is administered locally by Jump Street.
